Australian Kendo Championships

I am not sure if anyone else has been following some of the news stories regarding the Australian Kendo Championships, but I found them quite interesting.
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/the-hills/sterling-silver-to-kendo-ace-vivian-yung-at-australian-kendo-championships/story-fngr8j1q-1226612492724

It is not often that a mainstream news sources covers this sort of thing, so I have to imagine that Vivian Yung from the Sydney Kendo Club surely is going places. I had not heard of her before this, and I was wondering if anyone else had previously.
I particularly liked her comment regarding how one has to win the victory against their own mind before they win a victory in the ring. While athletes often repeat that sort of mantra it is particularly important in the art of Kendo, where reaction relies wholly on a clear and focused psyche.
If anyone has more information regarding the Australian Kendo Championships, I would be interested in seeing it. As an American it is not realistic for me to even imagine going to this sort of event, but seeing as the site has an international membership I was a bit curious.
